Restless Zoe Returns

Zoe Bertram wouldn't call herself restless these days, despite the fact she has young son Harvey to keep her on her toes.

Zoe is best known for the role of Olivia Baxter in The Restless Years and also star of Paradise Beach. This week she makes a welcome return to television when she teams up again with former restless years co star Peter Phelps for this weeks episode of Stingers in which she plays the sister of Church (Phelp's character).

Oddly enough Zoe said she and Peter did not even mention The Restless Years during their reunion!

Soap stars fill the Earth
Viewers that watched Channel Nine's This Violent Earth on Friday night would have been pleased to see appearanes by, or promises of upcoming appearances by, many well loved soap regulars. Fridays episode saw an appearance by Peter O'Brien as Sailor Jan. A character very unlike any one he has played before, next week sees Andrew Mcfarlane take on the adult role of the young boy from the first episode. Also Jon Bennet former star of Paradise Beach makes his appearance as the romantic interest of the now grown sister of Andrew Mcfarlane's character. So for those of you who may not have tuned in yet the program is well worth the effort even if it is in a somewhat lost timeslot with all the sport smothering its appearance.

Highlighting Uncle Harry
You might say Uncle Harry, and the man who portrayed him, Michael Caton hardly need any highlighting they are both larger than life in the history of Australian Television, however for those of you that have not kept up with Michael's career you would be pleased to know he is being kept very busy in a variety of roles.
Most of you would know of the hugely successful movie The Castle in which Michael stars as Dale Kerrigan. Michael also hosts a program on channel 7 called Hot Property which does not refer to himself, although it very well might, but is about real estate and house hunting. Michael recently guest starred in the program All Saints with a powerful performance as a hospital patient.

For anyone who wants to reminise about The Sullivans, here's a brief synospsis of it's conclusion.

Bruce out of Bright Ideas
Many people may have been wondering what happened to fan favourite Max from E Street when the program completed its run. Devoted soap fans would be aware that Bruce Samazan, the actor that portrayed Max completed a long stint in Neighbours as chef Mark Gottleib. After Neighbours Bruce cooked up a trip to Summer Bay in a shorter stay as Mick. Bruce then changed hats again, in this case he put on a country one and hosted a country music program.
After this Bruce again played host, in a program on Channel Ten called Bright Ideas, no doubt this got Bruce thinking to try another area this time the theatre where he successfully toured Australia in a play thats name escapes me. However it hasn't escaped my notice that Bruce has a habit of playing characters whose name begin with M!
Drawing by Paula.
Update: The fore mentioned play was titled Noises off!.

Ken James takes Totally Fresh approach
Ken James, former star of Skippy, The Box and Sons and Daughters, has a new role, in fact he's had it for quite a while. Viewers of Good Morning Australia would be familiar with Ken's regular appearance as a chef who manages to cook recipes that do not break the budget, indeed the segment is called Ken's Budget Beaters. Ken is also extolling the benefits of "Total Fresh", a lemon shaped freshener placed in the dishwasher and producing a lemon scent in the washed items.

Dave's door demolished
The house that's porch was used for so many scenes in the TV series The Sullivans has once again been saved from demolition by a last minute phone call, that prevented the destruction of the property. However, not before the door had been destroyed. To site one observer the whole persona of Hawthorn would be ruined by the removal of the house and the installation of units.

Minneapolis' Melissa's movie

Former Home and Away star Melissa George is celebrating her success in gaining a role in a major hollywood movie "Sugar and Spice" together with a role in the TV series based on academy award winning movie "LA Confidential. Melissa is also enjoying success on a personal level with boyfriend Claudio which you may read more about in this weeks New Idea magazine.

Actors return to Prison

Actor Val Lehman announced, a soon to be reunion of former Prisoner stars when she appeared on Good morning Australia this week. The reunion is to take place in February next year, and Lesley Baker is involved in organisation of the reunion. Watch this space for future sentances, pardon the pun, concerning this event.

Salter's time and tide comes in!

The ABC's new drama series is hoping to redress the balance of recent television formula and focus on a more mature group of Australians and their lives.

It follows the story of a teenager and an older group of people's river journey.

June Salter is well known for her extensive theatre successes and is also remembered for TV's "The Restless Years". June will this year also be starring in "The Sound of Music" and a new interpretation of "Treasure Island".
