Neighbours stars are doing a reading of The Blue Note, by Jane Palomountain, a play about HIV/AIDS. The pay will be read on Sunday at the Athenaeum Theatre (Melbourne, Australia). Those taking part include Carla Bonner, Alan Fletcher, Benjie McNair, Ryan Moloney, Dan Paris, Kym Valentine, Madeline West and Jackie Woodburne.

Ditch-ing and joining

A new cast member for Blue Heelers actor Ditch Davey (has had guest roles in All Saints, Water Rats and Above the Law) joins as new character Constable Evan Jones, however, unfortunately actor Rupert Reid is leaving the series. Rupert may be seen in The Melbourne Theatre Company's production of The Tempest at the Victorian Arts Centre.

The week's strongest link to Cornelia

Last night (5th February 2001) was the premiere of Cornelia Frances' new game show The Weakest Link. Unlike the usual game show this one is about the intellectual survivor, where a group of contestants play together and decideswhich member would be best done without (the weakest link) until there is only one remaining. As well as intellectual skill it also involves the psychological savvy of the contestants, to outlast each other. The show continues on Thursday night.

Cornelia Key To Lock In Missing Link

Cornelia Francis former Sons And Daughters star (Barbara Armstrong) is rumoured to be under consideration for the host role of a new game show The Weakest Link for Channel Seven, (Womans Day Jan 22).
 

Australian Made

There will be a host of new Australian made shows this season (Herald Sun Jan 3).

As well as the return of old favourites, there are some new offerings including:

The much talked about Ten drama The Secret Life of Us starring Claudia Carvan and other soap alumni.

Rebecca Gibney
will alppear on Ten in the movie Flying Fox.

Also on Ten a new sitcom set in a school titled Shut Up Sit Down and starring Marge Downey and Stephen Curry is also on the boards (pardon the pun!).

On Seven the dramatisation of George Johnstone's novel My Brother Jack, starring former A Country Practise star Matt Day and former Blue Heelers & Seachange, star William McInnes.

Seven will have the movie On The Beach, starring Rachel Ward, in a Golden Globe nominated role, Bryan Brown, Armand Assante, Jacqueline McKenzie and Grant Bowler.

Seven also has Rubicon starring William McInnes, Martin Sacks and Tom Long.

Lisa McCune will return in her new program Leather and Silk.

Nine will have a series based on their movie of a few years ago Mcleods Daughter.
