A Tribute to George

George Mallaby well know to viewers for his roles in Homicide,
Matlock Police and Cop Shop has passed away. Fellow
actors Terry Donovan and Bud Tingwell paid tribute
to George in news reports.
George, who originally came from England, became a veteran of Australian
Television. From many fine performances his role in Power Without
Glory as Barney Robinson is generally considered his finest
work. He received a Logie award in 1975 for TV series the Box. After
suffering strokes in the 90's Mr Mallaby did not recover full health
and his last TV appearance was in 1994 on Neighbours.
The production company, Crawfords for whom he did some of
his best work today paid tribute to George and 'his unforgettable
cheeky smile'.
A service will be held at the Berwick Church of Christ on Saturday.
George's family ask that donations instead of flowers be sent to
the Victorian Actors Benevolent Trust, PO Box 168, Newport, VIC,
